Located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, SAARA, a large popular open-air shopping complex surrounded by its beautiful old eclectic architecture is also known for recurring fire incidents. Given this fact, it is necessary to understand the issues related to fire safety as an approach to the conservation of the historical heritage built with the minimum of local modification, as their vulnerabilities regarding urban fires were presented. The paper presents a brief literature review on fire and intrinsic issues, first results using tools to create a strategic planning for fire protection management and culminating in one of the suggestions for increasing local protection through the use of detectors and alarms. wireless services linked to the creation of a region-specific fire brigade, interfering with the temporal factor, which is predominant in the response to this type of accident.
